After a long wait and much hard work, the Newcastle team began to feel fully settled into their new home at the Great North Children’s Hospital today.<\/p>\n
For those who are not aware, the team have now moved from the old Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary building into a brand new state-of-the-art children’s hospital on the same site.<\/p>\n
“With our new decorative portholes in place, storage fitted and games, crafts and prizes moved in, we are almost ready to operate a full service.” said Helen Hudspith, volunteer co-ordinator.<\/p>\n
“Our radio kit has been purchased and is in storage at the moment. Once the electrical wiring is ready, it’s good to go” said Derek Overton, chief engineer and chair.<\/p>\n
Helen went on to say “We are so excited about the new premises. Not only is it an amazing new environment for our local sick kids to enjoy, but it gives our volunteers a huge boost too. It’s great to feel like we are making progress. We have known about it for a long time and it has been a long wait but we are so proud to be settling in at last”.<\/p>\n
