In April, we received the American Hospital Association Award for Volunteer Excellence. Debbie Prout, one of our<br \/>\noriginal volunteers, and Sarah Maytum, Child Life<br \/>\nOutreach Coordinator, travelled to the American<br \/>\nHospital Association Conference in Washington,<br \/>\nDC to accept the award. Debbie presented a poster<br \/>\non Radio Lollipop and gave a presentation on our<br \/>\nprogram at a breakfast with many AHA executives.<\/p>\n<p>On October 9, 2001 Radio Lollipop will reopen in<br \/>\nits brand new studio on the 16th floor of our new<br \/>\ninpatient building. Our Biomedical Engineering<br \/>\nDepartment has been working very hard to get us<br \/>\nup and running! The studio features expanded<br \/>\nspace for patients, a Lollipop logo in the carpet,<br \/>\nand a fantastic view of the city of Houston. In<br \/>\naddition, the adjacent activity room has a stage<br \/>\nwith a microphone to allow for performances in<br \/>\nconjunction with the Lollipop program! Our patients are very excited to have a \u0093dancing floor\u0094, as they always seem to want to dance and sing when Lollipop is on the air.<\/p>\n<p>We continue to recruit new volunteers and it is exciting to see them mix with our original volunteers. We are hoping to go on the air another<br \/>\nnight once we have made the transition to the new<br \/>\nstudio.
