Radio Lollipop at Texas Children\u0092s Hospital has had a very exciting second year. In April, we received the American Hospital Association Award for Volunteer Excellence. Debbie Prout, one of our
\noriginal volunteers, and Sarah Maytum, Child Life
\nOutreach Coordinator, travelled to the American
\nHospital Association Conference in Washington,
\nDC to accept the award. Debbie presented a poster
\non Radio Lollipop and gave a presentation on our
\nprogram at a breakfast with many AHA executives.<\/p>\n
On October 9, 2001 Radio Lollipop will reopen in
\nits brand new studio on the 16th floor of our new
\ninpatient building. Our Biomedical Engineering
\nDepartment has been working very hard to get us
\nup and running! The studio features expanded
\nspace for patients, a Lollipop logo in the carpet,
\nand a fantastic view of the city of Houston. In
\naddition, the adjacent activity room has a stage
\nwith a microphone to allow for performances in
\nconjunction with the Lollipop program! Our patients are very excited to have a \u0093dancing floor\u0094, as they always seem to want to dance and sing when Lollipop is on the air.<\/p>\n
We continue to recruit new volunteers and it is exciting to see them mix with our original volunteers. We are hoping to go on the air another
\nnight once we have made the transition to the new
\nstudio. Radio Lollipop is a huge hit with our
