For the 7th consecutive year the Bus Driver\u0092s of
\nPerth have donned fancy dress costumes instead
\nof their uniforms to raise funds for Radio Lollipop.<\/p>\n
This year they raised approximately $56,000.
\nOnce a year the driver\u0092s discard their uniform to
\nwear a range of costumes from wonder woman,
\nclowns, super heroes and many other imaginative
\nideas. Elvis decorated his bus in Elvis style,
\nand played Elvis music to passengers during the
\nday. They also hold barbecues, auctions, a river
\ncruise and other functions. Schools also participate
\nand hold special days for Radio Lollipop.<\/p>\n
The Bus Driver\u0092s Uniform Free Day is supported
\nby the general public. Many people look forward
\nto the day and make the comment that it is
\na great way to start and end their day, with people
\nlaughing and joining in the fun. Support is
\nalso gained from Transperth, Channel 7, radio
\nstations, Newspapers, and a variety of sponsors
\nwho provide prizes for a raffle, different fundraising
\nactivities, \u0091Best Dressed Driver\u0092s awards, and
\nin other ways.<\/p>\n
The Radio Lollipop volunteers are also involved in
\nthat they get their places of work to participate,
\nand also assist the drivers in collecting money
\naround the city. A Roadshow is held by our volunteers in the heart of the city centre on the day
\nwith special guests, including television celebrities
\nand sporting heroes. The audience consists
\nof primary school children who make the journey
\ninto the city.<\/p>\n
The Bus Driver\u0092s of Perth have provided the funds
\nto establish a Radio Lollipop station at Fremantle
\nHospital, Joondalup Health Campus, and a new
\nstudio in Princess Margaret Hospital for Children.
\nThe new studio has a much bigger area, and provides a larger area for the children to play and
