An ambitious \u00a340k fundraising campaign is under way to transform Radio Lollipop\u2019s Southampton studio.<\/p>\n
The cash injection is needed to pay for a much-needed upgrade of the studio and play area based at Southampton General Hospital.<\/p>\n
Eye-catching design plans have been unveiled which will bring the much-loved radio base bang up to date.<\/p>\n
Lee Donnarumma, Radio Lollipop Southampton\u2019s chair, said: \u201cEveryone is very excited about the plans, which will give us the bright, modern studio our patients and volunteers deserve.\u00a0 Our current studio has served us well but, after nearly 23 years, is looking tired and shabby and in desperate need of a makeover.\u201d<\/p>\n
The existing Radio Lollipop studio is tucked away near the hospital restaurant \u2013 but is so low-key that many patients, visitors and staff walk past without a second glance.<\/p>\n
It is hoped that by opening up the studio with a new glass frontage \u2013 showing off a bright, modern interior \u2013 will help generate new interest in the charity.<\/p>\n
The improved facilities will also make the base more inviting for young patients, who can visit and try their hand at DJ-ing if they are well enough.<\/p>\n
