WESTERN Australia’s newest recruits to Radio Lollipop are having great fun with the children of Rockingham Hospital.

Volunteers Merryl Riley, Janet McGlinchey and Lucy Junghams commenced ward rounds late last year in time for Christmas. Covering two shifts each week, the ladies read stories, blow bubbles, tell jokes, play games and keep Lollipop’s favourite clients company at the bedside

The team are being mentored by Glenice Sanders, Volunteer Coordinator from neighbouring Murdoch Hospital. Glenice and Rose recently joined the ladies at Rockingham for a photo shoot for the local paper.

Glenice said mentoring the new recruits in their first weeks was one of the highlights of her time with Radio Lollipop.

Radio Lollipop is keen to expand the current team to eventually provide play and entertainment for the children of Rockingham seven days a week.
