Keegan signs up to support lollipop
4 July 2008

Kevin Keegan, Newcastle United and former England manager, today spent an afternoon at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary to announce the name of the new state of the art Children’s Hospital in the region.

The GREAT NORTH CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL was chosen by the public as the name for the new £100m building which will house all of the children’s services under one roof, including the brand new Radio Lollipop Newcastle studio.

Whilst visiting the hospital, Keegan spent time meeting the children and signed autographs for staff, patients and the Radio Lollipop team.

Press / PR representative for Lollipop Newcastle, Helen Hudspith said “it was great to see the amount of time he spent with the children. He didn’t just announce the name and then walk away. He really understood that today’s event was all about the kids. They were so excited to see him and it gave many of them a real lift”.

Keegan has been a keen supporter of Lollipop in the past and signed a Radio Lollipop shirt for the charity. It will be framed and put in the new studio for everyone to enjoy.
