It’s a kind of magic
5 October 2013

On Saturday 28th September volunteers from Radio Lollipop Bristol mastered some magic under the teachings of comedy magician Richard Ballinger.

The magicians’ workshop saw volunteers learn card tricks, memory games and even how to make things disappear! As well as teaching, Richard the magician gave volunteers plenty of ideas for how the tricks could be adapted to children of different age ranges and the two hour long session meant that there was plenty of time to practice. By the afternoon, volunteers were already wowing the children in the play room with all types of magic tricks.

Andrew Long, a Saturday volunteer at Radio Lollipop and participant in the magic workshop, said: “I have really enjoyed learning how to perform magic and understanding how to make each trick funny for the children at the same time. I will definitely be practicing what I have learnt as part of my Radio Lollipop sessions.”

The skills learnt at the workshop will also be taught to other Radio Lollipop volunteers over the next few months to make Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital an even more magical place.
