Gold Coast singer Jacob Lee brings music to the children in hospital
25 August 2015

Jacob Lee, singer and The Voice Australia 2014 contestant, travelled from the Gold Coast to visit the Brisbane Radio Lollipop studio and sing to the children at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.

Brisbane Radio Lollipop Chairperson Michael Gilbert said it was an exciting show with Jacob Lee joining the team of volunteers in the studio and the children really enjoyed requesting songs which he played live.

“Radio Lollipop is all about entertaining children in hospital with their choice of songs requested from their bedside or within the studio, so we were delighted to have Jacob Lee entertain the children and their families with his acoustic version of Uptown Funk, Thinking Out Loud, Stay With Me, as well as his new song Chariot,” Mr Gilbert said.

“It’s a chance for the children to forget that they’re in hospital and we really appreciate Jacob taking the time to visit us to create positive memories while the children are in hospital.

Eight year old patient Emily Copas came to watch Jacob Lee with her Nan and she lit up when Jacob sang her favourite songs, including Lego House.

“We would like to thank Radio Lollipop and especially Jacob as it was the highlight of Emily’s stay in hospital this time round,” said Emily’s Nan, Debbie McMahon.

“Emily is still talking about Jacob and showing everyone her photo with Jacob.”

Jacob Lee said the Radio Lollipop team made him feel welcome from the start and he enjoyed playing for the children in hospital.

“Having people at the hospital that clearly care so much about the wellbeing and happiness of the kids is beautiful and I’m glad I could be part of it,” Mr Lee said.

“A young girl named Emily sat with her Nan as I performed in the studio. I think the music I performed made her day and that in itself is what makes all of this worthwhile.”

Mr Gilbert said Radio Lollipop couldn’t make these moments happen if it wasn’t for special guests taking the time to visit the children and the support of our donators and volunteers.
