Together We Can
1 April 2024

Children’s charity Radio Lollipop is launching its largest multi-channel advertising campaign this April with the aim of bouncing back after COVID.

‘Together we can put laughter and play in place of pain’ is the theme for a nationwide poster, radio, and social media activity throughout April. It is aimed at significantly increasing awareness of Radio Lollipop and its Volunteers who provide care, comfort, play and entertainment for sick children in ten UK hospitals.

Supported by the JCDecaux Community Channel, the campaign is running across digital billboards and Communication Hubs nationwide. This is being supported by radio clips with a child puƫting the message across. All will be reinforced through our
Radio Lollipop website and active social media support.

Andy Morton, Head of Development Partnerships at JCDecaux UK, said “We are proud to be working in partnership with Radio Lollipop, using our digital assets across the country to help raise awareness of the important role the charity plays in children’s
hospitals.”

John Dash, Radio Lollipop UK Chairman said: “Post Covid and now that our brilliant Volunteers can get back on the wards, we need to rapidly boost our funds to bring serious fun to more children. It is proven that a happy child gets better quicker and that the need for medication is much reduced when Radio Lollipop is around.”

Most Radio Lollipop Stations have a Studio playing requests and theme nights which carry through onto the wards. Children well enough can visit and become a DJ for a while. Those too ill are visited by Volunteers who make them smile with balloons, bubbles, fun and games. The hospital medical staff much appreciate the support Radio Lollipop provides.

Radio Lollipop was launched in 1978 at Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children in Carshalton – at that time the biggest children’s hospital in Europe. Over the years it has developed into 36 hospitals in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the USA and South Africa. It’s 45th Birthday on May 5th this year will also be celebrated by Lollipop Day, encouraging families and friends to stage fun fundraising activities throughout the bank holiday week.
