The shak attack
5 March 2008

It was excitement on the wards this week as Picasso, Curio and Nitro ventured out from the Channel 9 afternoon kids show “The Shak” to come and visit the Manic Monday crew at Radio Lollipop Mater in Brisbane. Picasso was trying to find an answer to a viewers question of ‘What do children in hospital do for fun?’ and she was able to find lots of things with us.

Whilst Picasso developed her ‘radio voice’ and acted as studio assistant to our Famous Pop Princess Simone, Curio and Nitro went up onto the wards to meet some children who were making disco glasses with our wonderful ward visiting volunteers. The phones were ringing hot for Picasso as the children requested their favourite songs and answered competition questions. Check out Picasso and the Pop Princess in our photo.

The boys enjoyed sharing stories from snow boarding adventures to favourite toys. Then Curio and Nitro headed down to the studio for their turn as studio assistants and Picasso visited a few of the children on the wards as well. Picasso’s arts and craft skills came in handy to help one child complete a hand puppet.

A film crew was following all of the evening’s antics, so watch out for the Radio Lollipop TV stars. No doubt the film offers will be rolling in soon….

A big thanks to Jaye who organised things behind the scenes with Roy and to Scott our new Radio Lollipop Brisbane Chairperson and to the Pop Princess and the Manic Monday crew. Well done team.
