Cj bruton visits the mater children’s hospital in brisbane
19 February 2008

The Brisbane Bullets star guard CJ Bruton took time out from his very busy training schedule in the lead up to the NBL finals to spend time with Radio Lollipop and the children at the Mater Children’s Hospital.

The Brisbane Bullets Basketball Team are great supporters of Radio Lollipop and during CJ’s visit last night he really brightened the lives of many sick children and their families.

Last night Radio Lollipop volunteers Sandra Ursino and Russell Williams escorted CJ on his visit. One little boy was curled up in his bed with the lights out looking extremely sorry for himself and unwell. Sandra went in to ask if he would like a visit from CJ and he said yes. When CJ walked in, he sat up in his bed he was smiling and chatting and high fiving. His dad took a couple of photo’s on his mobile and during the visit his mum tried to get him to lay back down but he was sooooo excited that he wouldn’t, he wanted to sit up and talk to CJ. CJ told him he was number 3 and the little boy thought he meant that CJ was 3 years old and he looked very confused because he new he was 4 years old and CJ looked much bigger than a normal 3 year old until CJ explained he was Number 3. You had to be there but trust me we were all laughing.

CJ also gave each child a Brisbane Bullets Beanie Bear to take home as a reminder of the great time they had in hospital.

There are many great stories like this one from last night visit on the wards. Radio Lollipop would like to thank the Brisbane Bullets Management, CJ Bruton and the Manic Monday team for a great night and for helping make a difference to the stay of a sick child in hospital.
