The only reason Radio Lollipop exists is to provide Care, Comfort, Play & Entertainment for sick children in hospital. The aim is to provide a consistently high standard of radio and play service for the children and their families. With the generous help of sponsors and donations, Radio Lollipop’s volunteers are now spending less time fund-raising and more time on the wards.

If you live or work near a Radio Lollipop hospital and would like to become involved please let us know*. We will arrange for you to be invited into the hospital to see the service we provide.

All Radio Lollipop Volunteers are given a full induction course and we operate a “buddy programme” so you are working with a qualified and experienced volunteer.

Inductions will include your involvement in presentations/discussions on:
• Understanding the need for play
• Radio Lollipop Standards
• Welcome to the World of Radio Lollipop – a practical guide

You will meet existing and longer serving volunteers and, in due course, will attend further
meetings covering:

• Health, Safety & Fire Standards
• Respecting and understanding each others cultures
• Containing Infections & Diseases
• Dealing with Bereavement.

*All potential volunteers need to be aware that police screening of your provided details is an essential part of our acceptance system.
