TRANSPERTH bus passengers today got a chance to meet their favourite cartoon characters and superheroes.

Many of Perth’s of bus drivers left their uniforms at home to dress up in support of Radio Lollipop for Uniform Free Day. Transperth and Public Transit Authority staff, Radio Lollipop volunteers and many schools and businesses across Western Australia also took part in the charity event collecting at train stations across the rail network, in the Perth CBD and at the workplace.

Transperth staff and passengers have supported Radio Lollipop for 17 years.

PTA managing director Mark Burgess has seen Uniform Free Day grow from just Transperth’s metropolitan bus drivers into an initiative supported by staff from across the organisation, including train drivers, office staff and regional town bus drivers.

“Last year, we raised just over $95,000.” Mr Burgess said.

“With the help of our passengers, we hope to go that little bit further this year, and top the $100,000 milestone.”

Radio Lollipop would like to thank all those who got involved and donated. All and all it was a fantastic fun filled character day – with “all on board” doing their part!  Counting will now being with the final tally raised from this year’s event due in the weeks ahead.
