Helen dives into shark adventure

In recent weeks, Blue Planet was the backdrop to a bid to raise money for Radio Lollipop.

Helen Stone, the Business Development Manager for Eurocamp decided to help raise money for Radio Lollipop, by taking on the twelve sharks in Blue Planet’s Caribbean Reef themed exhibit, which houses one of the largest collections of sharks in Europe!

Although Helen had never dived before, she braved the waters inhabited by three different species of sharks and took to it like a duck to water! She even managed to find several shark’s teeth amongst the sand to take home as a souvenir of her watery adventure!

Helen chose to support Radio Lollipop,at the Royal Manchester Hospital, as one of her very good friends, Hayley Pritchard, aged 10 yrs, has been a patient at the Royal Manchester Children’s hospital on several occasions as she suffers from Leukaemia. Helen has raised £1000 for the worthwhile charity, through kind donations from colleagues at Eurocamp, members of her Blitz Jive Class, and her family and friends.

Radio Lollipop is a unique charity that provides an essential play and entertainment service for sick children in hospital. Since its beginnings in 1979, Radio Lollipop now operates across seventeen hospitals of which seven are based in the UK. Its principal aim is to provide care, comfort, play and entertainment to sick children in hospital. The charity relies heavily upon its’ volunteers who work closely with nursing and medical staff, with play therapists and play leaders at each hospital.

Eurocamp has been working with Radio Lollipop for the past twelve months, donating not only money, but also toys for the children. The charity dive held at Blue Planet was the icing on the cake, and Helen said of the experience “ It was fantastic, a once in a lifetime experience!”. Eurocamp has also joined in partnership with Blue Planet offering visitors a saving on their holiday and the chance to win a free holiday as a prize!
