Night 4 of Children’s Week at Monash Children’s Hospital

What an awesome 4th night Radio Lollipop had for Children’s Week at Monash Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.

It was a PJ Party night at Radio Lollipop and our volunteers wore their best PJs for the night.

Our regular patients and their families enjoyed all the activities on offer again singing and dancing to the music. The games table and craft were a particular hit with everyone again.

We had a few new patients join us for the first time and what champions they were. We had one young boy who struggles with his speech, however, his willingness and ability to sing live on radio was truly inspiring. He new the words to heaps of our favourite songs and sang his heart out. What a treat it was for all of us.

Zander also joined us again last night and he also loves to sing and dance. Watching him sing and dance with DJ Greg was fantastic (see photo’s) He also loves having his face painted and wanted to be a scary man.

Local Rotary Club supports Gold Coast Sick Kids

Radio Lollipop Gold Coast recently received a very generous cash donation from Broadwater Southport Rotary Club.

Our Fundraising Coordinators were invited to attend one of the club’s meeting at the Southport Yacht Club to be presented with the cheque. Katy and Jaime were very humbled to receive the $2,000 donation on behalf of the Gold Coast team.

Radio Lollipop were among other organisations which the rotary club was presenting donations to.

The club’s main focus is on assisting Youth locally on the Gold Coast , Australia Wide and Internationally. The volunteers in attendance thought that it was great to see that the club was also helping out other local organisations whilst being a volunteer organisation themselves.

Previously our Gold Coast Volunteers supported the club by helping out at their Kokoda Memorial Walk in 2014 where they were very impressed with our Roadshow.

The funds will go towards craft supplies, updating and maintaining our radio equipment and new games and activities to entertain the children at The Gold Coast Griffith University Hospital.

We would like to once again thank the Rotary Club of Broadwater Southport for their continued support.

Because of partnerships such as these, Radio Lollipop Gold Coast can continue to do what they do best, put smiles on the faces of children in hospital.

Night 3 of Children’s Week at Monash Children’s Hospital

Night 3 of Children’s Week at Monash Children’s Hospital in Melbourne was a hit.

Although very tired from a big day in hospital, young patient and Radio Lollipop regular Natalia was waiting for us when we arrived to set-up and was last to leave when we packed up.

We were delighted to have Angela (also a Radio Lollipop Volunteer) and Lou from Hey Dee Ho Music put on an interactive show for the kids. The children sang and danced to all their favourite songs.

One of the highlights of the night was the Radio Lollipop team singing and dancing to Frozen to entertain Natalia and the kids.

Night 2 of Children’s Week at Monash Children’s Hospital

It was an awesome night two of Children’s Week at Monash Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.

We were delighted to welcome back a number of families who had joined us for our first night. Young patient Natalia and her mum stayed with us to play for our entire pop-up radio show and play program. Natalia enjoyed having her arms and legs painted, later she wanted to be a rainbow butterfly too. Check out the photo with Natalia and Radio Lollipop volunteers Pom, Angela and Abi.

DJ Greg played all our favourite tunes and had lots of song requests from the kids. The craft and games tables were very popular again tonight as were the face painting tables.

Radio Lollipop Director, Lisa Leong also did a live radio cross with ABC Radio during the show.
