Radio lollipop edinburgh’s birthday parade

Radio Lollipop Edinburgh blew up the party balloons brought out the party banners and paraded on an open top bus to mark the twenty-fifth birthday of Radio Lollipop. The Festival Cavalcade in Edinburgh is a huge parade through the centre of the city to mark the start of the Edinburgh Festival. The Cavalcade offers Radio Lollipop the opportunity to spread the word of Lollipop and entertain crowds of over 170,000 people.

This year for the first time Radio Lollipop used an open top bus kindly donated by Lothian Buses. The red and white bus was decorated with banners and balloons. David and Graham entertained the crowd with their DJ banter and Bryan and Lollipop Supporter Graham handed out over 300 bags of goodies and information on Radio Lollipop Edinburgh to the crowds.

As in previous years the Lollipop float was one of the loudest and brightest and was even able to offer the crowds some relief from the very hot weather as volunteers sprayed their water pistols into the crowds below.

At the end of the parade the bus returned to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children and volunteers went round the wards distributing the Lollipop Balloons to the children. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of volunteers and supporters at Radio Lollipop Edinburgh the day was a huge success.

3 cheers for glasgow

Radio Lollipop in Glasgow recently recieved a visit from the Claire M. Brown Cheerdance Squad. This was the third visit from the girls who had a cheque for £70, making it the second donation from the girls which now totals £150.

They collected the money between their annual dance show in April and again at their ‘rock and roll’ and gymnastics roadshow in July which Radio Lollipop provided the usual fun service.

Cheeky Chaz, as usual, managed to let herself get caught up in the madness that was going on and ended up becoming part of the group of people being thrown in the air – sometimes not landing as gracefully as she’d liked!

The girls all had a great time, and so did Claire. In fact, she enjoyed herself so much that she’s decided she wants to be part of the Radio Lollipop magic and has now applied to become a volunteer!

Once again, the Glasgow team proves that Radio Lollipop is SERIOUS FUN!
