Tweetie bird comes to the mater children’s hospital brisbane

Rumour had it that one of our long term patients Jacinta was a Tweetie Bird fan and her mum was unable to find her Tweetie Bird at home to bring in. Radio Lollipop Mater thought it would be great if they could arrange a visit from the real Tweetie Bird who lives an hour down the road at Movie World on the Gold Coast.

Renee Dempsey from Radio Lollipop approached Tim and the team from Movie World who agreed to make a special trip up to Brisbane to surprise Jacinta. What a surprise it was, at first Jacinta was overwhelmed, but she soon relaxed and started playing games with Tweetie. Tweeties hands were a little big so Jacinta gave her a pen to help her play. Unfortunately this didn’t help and Jacinta still won the game.

Tweetie also bought Jacinta her very own Tweetie Bird as a gift. It was the biggest Tweetie you have ever seen, it is almost as big as Jacinta herself. Jacinta was later seen walking around the wards with her Tweetie taped to her IV drip pole.

Our biggest thanks to Renee Dempsey, Michelle Mathews and Movie World for making Jacinta’s dream come true.

Dora the explorer visits the mater children’s hospital brisbane

It was a huge night recently when Dora the Explorer visited Radio Lollipop at the Mater Children’s Hospital in Brisbane. Dora is a regular visitor to both the Mater Children’s and more recently the Gold Coast Hospital courtesy of our friends at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast.

Dora made an extra special trip in to the Mater this time to help make the wish come true for one of Radio Lollipop’s biggest fans, Jacinta. Jacinta has been in hospital for the last 10 weeks and recently celebrated her 5th birthday in hospital. Unfortunately, Dora couldn’t visit for Jacinta’s birthday but she did make it for a special visit and they spent time playing a board game – which Jacinta won and they had lots of photo’s together to help Jacinta remember her very own visit. Jacinta then escorted Dora down to the Radio Lollipop playroom where lots of other Dora fans were waiting.

It was a fantastic night, with lots of children getting to meet Dora and have their photo taken.

A special thank you to Dreamworld and Renee Dempsey (Mater Honorary Press and PR Co-ordinator) for arranging both the Mater and Gold Coast visits enabling us to brighten the lives of sick children in hospital.

Radio lollipop at the espc showrooms edinburgh

The Edinburgh Radio Lollipop team spent a fun filled afternoon at the ESPC showrooms. The Edinburgh Property Centre was happy to let the team provide music, face painting and hair spraying.

For all who ventured into the showrooms in the city centre it was a fantastic day and we raised a lot of money in aid of Children in Hospital.

A big thanks for the staff at the ESPC Showrooms in George Street for all their help and support on the day!
