Lauren from popular children’s group Hi-5 bounded through the archway of balloons of the Radio Lollipop Studio to be greeted by many smiling faces on Monday 16 May 2011. The children completed Hi-5 crafts, played games and Lauren spent time chatting with each child.

Purplena the Face Painting Fairy from Dreamworld brightened up the ward by painting beautiful designs on many faces. Patients, siblings, Radio Lollipop Volunteers and even some of the nurses! There were butterflies, flowers, spidermen, Ben 10 characters and many other amazing designs.

Later Lauren and Purplena went for a walk around the wards to visit the children who were unable to make it down to the studio. Lauren chatted to the children and their families and autographed Hi-5 gear for them. Purplena painted the children’s faces and sprinkled special ‘get well fairy dust’ to help them feel much better. Every child was left smiling from ear to ear after their special visit from Lauren and Purplena.

A big thank you to Lauren for taking time out of your busy Hi-5 schedule to come and spend time with the children at Gold Coast Hospital and put so many smiles on faces. We hope you’ll come back and visit us again soon.

On Monday May 16th 2011 at 12pm, Nandos on Park Street will be holding a day of fun and fundraising for Radio Lollipop Bristol. The day marks the start of a partnership between the restaurant and the charity to raise funds and awareness.

There will be free balloons for children, a crockery sale, free food sampling and a raffle with amazing prizes including: meals for 2 at Ask, Pizza Express, Tantan Moroccan, a Gallon of bear at Bristol RAM, a 1 month Gym Membership @ Fitness First & Mariott Spa, goodie Bags from Starbucks, Motel & Jamie’s Italian, a gift set from Stationery World, £25 voucher for Cooshti, free shoe repair from Timpson and the jackpot prize of free Nandos for a month.

Tickets are £1 and available now and on the day from Nandos Park Street, Ask, Cooshti, Motel and Stationery World. Staff from the restaurant and volunteers from the charity will be selling tickets and answering questions on the day and all proceeds raised from the day are going to Radio Lollipop Bristol. There may even be an appearance from Nando’s big chicken mascot!

Andy Young, Chairman of Radio Lollipop in Birmingham, successfully completed the 26-mile Stratford marathon on Sunday, raising nearly £400 for the station based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Well done Andy!

The Radio Lollipop Edinburgh Ball will be a ‘Red Masquerade’ theme and is taking place on Friday 7th October at the Roxburghe Hotel, Charlotte Square, Edinburgh.
