Australian idol loves lollipop

2004 proved to be the year of Australian Idol “fan-demonium” at Radio Lollipop in Perth. However, it wasn’t the patients that were the biggest fans but the stars themselves who fell in love with Lollipop and kept coming back!

It started in May when hosts Andrew G and James Mathison came to Radio Lollipop along with judges Marcia Hines, Mark Holden and Ian “Dicko” Dickson while in Perth to conduct auditions for the second season of the show.

The team from the popular reality television show visited two of the wards before going up to the Radio Lollipop studio for more autograph signing,
radio interviews, face painting, dancing and crafts with the kids.

The visit was featured on the Network Ten evening news and Australian Idol publicist, Stella Katsaros wrote to thank Radio Lollipop saying that the Idol guests “had not stopped raving about it” since.

August saw Aussie Idol 2003 runner-up, Shannon Noll un-expectantly drop by to Radio Lollipop before his Friday night concert (much to the excitement of the teen girls!).

The galaxy of stars didn’t end there however! September was completed by a close encounter with the (then) Australian Idol himself, Mr Guy Sebastian!
Guy put his hand up to pop by on a Sunday arvo to sign autographs, pose for photos and give out a million hugs to our special kids. He even sang his record breaking single “Angels” for us. AWWW… so sweet!

December is the end of year but the Idol theme continued when the current and freshly crowned Australian Idol, Casey Donovan, requested a visit to our studios. Casey gave Radio Lollipop an Australian exclusive by releasing her debut album on our airwaves!

Now, who shall we invite in 2005?
