Lollipop double with scooby-doo

Saturday July 20th sees Radio Lollipop at Newcastle in a double celebration!

Its the first day of the 6 week school summer holiday for starters, and the new Scooby Doo movie is out as well!

Never ones to let a party opportunity pass by, we’ve decided to put the big fuse into the roadshow gear and pump out some summer beats at the Warner Bros Studio Store.

We can be found (and heard!) next to Woolworths in the Gateshead Metrocentre. And to top it all, were going for a marathon session. Were going to be ‘going live’ from 9 am when the shop opens, right through to 7pm when they close! And just when you thought it couldnt possibly get any better – We’ve tracked down a very busy Scooby Doo and asked him to pop in for a while during the day as well.

So as the school holidays start and you’re already bored, arm yourself with some Scooby snacks, and head for the Warner Bros Studio Store, 9am – 7pm on Saturday 20th July.

Lollipop tackles “sky sports” stevo

Following the success of the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final in 2000 , Edinburgh was
again chosen as the venue for the 2002 Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Challenge Cup Final.

Here at Radio Lollipop we were again delighted to welcome back Mike Stephenson of Sky Sports who was returning to Edinburgh for the game . Stevo as he is known throughout the Rugby League world came into the studio on Thursday 25th April and once again did an interview and answered many questions from the boys and gilrs in hospital . He visited the wards and gave off Sky Sports merchandise to winners of the competitions that were set on the night .

After visiting the wards he once again returned to the studio and announced the winners of our Rugby League competition that had been taking part all week . The prizes kindly donated by both St Helens and Wigan Rugby League Club of signed footballs were given away to the winners who had been in the hospital earlier in the week but were now home .

Both winners were delighted with there prizes and thanks again must be expressed to Jim Pryde for all his work in liasoning with ” Stevo” and the Rugby League clubs .

As he left the studio “Stevo” , proudle wearing his “lollipop” pin badge . He thanked the “Thursday ” team of volunteers for their efforts in helping the children and he presented a further bag containing English League Football strips that will be used in a future football competition .

As an extra bonus Stevo arranged for tickets for children at the hospital and presenter John Macaulay took 7 year Owen Bray to Murrayfield to see the match . Owen met “Stevo” on the day and as he promised he was still wearing his Lollipop badge.

Kids bag “mammoth” swag

Robert Wiseman Dairies, the official milk partner for the new animated feature film ‘Ice Age’, gave kids throughout the Radio Lollipop network the chance to ‘bag some mammoth swag’ by giving away hundreds of exclusive branded goodie bags recently.

Children were asked to paint or draw a milk related picture at Radio Lollipop sites in Glasgow, Bristol, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester over the space of a week. Each day twenty pictures were chosen by a panel of judges with each winner receiving a goodie bag.

Comments Sandy Wilkie, sales and marketing director, “’Ice Age’ is all about appealing to children’s imagination, so by holding a picture competition and giving away some exclusive goodies we hoped to give children throughout the Radio Lollipop network the opportunity to participate in the magic of the film.”
