Laudatory LolliTrolley Launch!

The latest innovation in play technology has landed at the Gold Coast University Hospital!

On Monday, the 24th of October, the Gold Coast launched a Radio Lollipop LolliTrolley! The trolley turns any room into a complete Radio Lollipop studio experience! The trolley has everything you could want to kickstart a play interaction and transform the atmosphere of a room. Equipped with laudatory lights and lasers, a beautiful bubble machine and balloon pump, substantial speakers, magical microphones, and finished off with a luscious Lollipop logo – it genuinely is game-changing!

The trolley is the third in the world and the first outside the UK. To make the launch even more momentous, our founder and trolley designer, Hedley Finn OBE, travelled from the UK to join us for the launch!

It hasn’t even been ‘live’ (radio joke) for a week, but it has entirely transformed our service delivery. We can’t wait to continue creating laughs and smiles for the children of the Gold Coast University Hospital with our new toy!

A Heartfelt thanks to Madison and Andrew for giving up their weekend to get the trolley ready and raring to go! Similarly, thank you, Tani, for securing the grant that made the trolley a reality and the Southport Rotary Club for donating the money to buy the battery.

Amazing Race Around the Wards!

If you had the chance to meet an AMAZING reality TV celebrity, would you RACE at the opportunity 🏃?

The kids at Gold Coast University Hospital certainly did – they got to meet Vincent from the Amazing Race 🏁!

We challenged Vincent to so many games on the ward to keep in the competitive racing spirit, and even though the kids always came out on top, he couldn’t wipe the smile off his face 😊!

To make the visit super special, Vincent even brought a REAL clue card from the race, prompting many great questions from our curious friends 🤔!

Thank you so much, Vincent, for visiting us. We loved seeing you brighten up the kids’ days ☀️!

Bonney Electorate 2022 Local Legend Community Awards

It is not an understatement to say that today truly is a Terrific Tuesday. Last night, Radio Lollipop was invited to attend the Bonney Electorate 2022 Local Legend Community Awards. Out of the five award categories, we are so proud to announce that Radio Lollipop had representation as nominees in two: Claire Bear 🧸 as Volunteer of the Year and the Gold Coast station as Community Organisation of the Year.

After treating ourselves to an assortment of opulent olives and perfect pizzas, the award winners were announced…

🥁🥁🥁 Drum roll noises 🥁🥁🥁

We are so honoured and practically bursting with pride to announce that Radio Lollipop Gold Coast went two for two. Claire Bear 🧸 was recognised as Volunteer of the Year, AND the Gold Coast station was recognised as the Community Organisation of the Year!

Congratulations Claire, and the entire Gold Coast team. We are so proud of everything you have achieved and the countless memories you have created while providing care, comfort, play, and entertainment to children in hospitals.

Radio Lollipop Newcastle Rocks the Great North Run 2022

On September 11th 2022 Radio Lollipop Newcastle had 22 willing volunteers to run 13.1 miles from Newcastle City Centre to the finish line with the wonderful view of South Shields in front of them.  The greatest half marathon in the world takes place on our doorstep (even starting virtually outside our studio door) and after two long years the GNR “came home”.  The event was, sadly, overshadowed by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and a very respectful silence was observed before the race.

Our runners all finished, logging some fantastic times but it was the personal challenge that they met with a real Radio Lollipop attitude.  A huge thank you to everyone who ran for us and here’s to 2023’s race.
