Birmingham fun run

On Sunday 5th September, 2004 Birminghams very own Radio Lollipop volunteers Joanne Hollick and Cecilia Ford-Jones put their best foot forward and joined thousands of women in the Birmingham Flora Light Womens Challenge and ran the 5k route.

Jo and Cecilia fought the blazing heat and the gruesome route which started and ended in Centenary Square. Jo and Cecilia completed the 5k challenge in good times and have acheived a great effort in raising over £300.00 for Radio Lollipop.

Well done girls, wer’e sooooooooo proud of you.

Club night in bristol

Radio Lollipop in Bristol, UK, had a successful evening of fundraising and promotion recently at Reflex night club, central Bristol. The management of the club were extremely supportive, giving Lollipop £1 for every person who came through the door.

Our team of 10 wonderful lollipop volunteers worked tirelessly in encouraging people to donate, telling them who we are and handing out volunteering leaflets.

During the evening, one of Bristol Lollipop’s own volunteers, DJ Shane, took over from the club’s resident DJ, providing an hour-long set, which included ‘Lollipop’s Top Ten Tunes’. He did a fantastic job, and managed to fill the dance floor, and had everyone clapping along to the classic, ‘I Will Survive’.

We are so very grateful to all the volunteers who helped during the evening, or came along to help out the following Saturday morning. We couldn’t have done it without them!

The evening proved to be a massive success. The whopping £836.97 that was raised exceeded all expectations! Thank you to all volunteers, Reflex management (especially Paddy), and everyone who turned up to support the event and who put money in our tins!!!
