Yorkhill’s christmas tree lights

December got a little bit brighter at Yorkhill hospital today with the annual switch-on of the Christmas tree lights.

Despite the cold weather many of the patients were allowed out of their wards to come and see Barry Ferguson, Glasgow Rangers and Scotland International footballer, do the honours.

After the all-important switch-on Barry stayed to have pictures taken and give autographs to patients, hospital staff, members of the public and a massive dog!

Once again, Radio Lollipop was there to supply the music and a buffet was supplied by the hospital.

A good night was had by all, the tree will continue to warm up the front entrance of the hospital throughout the festive period.

Happy sweet 16th radio lollipop brisbane

On the 2nd December 2006, Radio Lollipop at the Mater Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, Australia celebrated it’s sweet 16th Birthday. What a marvellous milestone to reach! The day was a lot of fun with the volunteers, Miss Lollipop and Ronald McDonald and Hamburglar kicking off the celebrations with a studio party and cake cutting ceremony! Check out the photo.

It was then up to the wards where, Miss Lollipop, Ronald and Hamburglar and our band of Radio Lollipop Volunteers spreading the birthday joy (and birthday cake) with children, parents and hospital staff alike!

There was lots of surprises, with Hamburglar attempting to run away with the Birthday cake on a few occasions (a big thank-you to the children who helped to save it)!

All in all the day was a huge celebration with the children, parents, volunteers & hospital staff all enjoying the festivities and the Radio Lollipop birthday cake, ensuring it was a very sweet 16th indeed for Radio Lollipop in Brisbane.

Our sincere thanks to Ronald McDonald, Hamburglar and the McDonald’s team for their continued generous support of Radio Lollipop in Queensland, Australia.
