Sir robert mcalpine survival team raise funds for radio lollipop!

Members of staff from Sir Robert McAlpine took on the great outdoors for Radio Lollipop and honed their teamwork and leadership skills in the process.

The ten intrepid souls were among four teams of five who took part in the Farscape Survival Challenge, an outdoor pursuits course held over a chilly weekend in October.

Designed to strengthen relationships as well as develop teamwork and leadership skills, the course provided an exhilarating and challenging weekend for the teams.

Armed with only a few essentials, the teams were welcomed by ex-SAS Major and TV survival expert Ken Hames.

At the end of a long and demanding first day, the exhausted participants had to cook their own meal under the stars and build a shelter to sleep in. But the day wasn’t over yet with the teams given two more challenges, including clearing a minefield blindfolded, before settling down for the night.

After a cold and, for most, sleepless few hours the following day started early with the teams up cooking breakfast in the dark before being sent off to tackle their next set of challenges.

A great weekend was had by all and the event raised a substantial £7,900 for Radio Lollipop thanks to the hardworking sponsorship efforts of the team.
