Officially best in the west

Its Official that Radio Lollipop (Glasgow) is now the best team in the west according to Scotland’s best selling evening paper the evening times. More than 200 people attended the Glasgow Community Champion Awards, which was sponsored, by Strathclyde police & Strathclyde Fire & rescue plus many more, took place in Partick Burgh halls on Thursday 28th May. On the night we managed to Scoop the award for the best team in the west of Glasgow, which was presented to us by the lord provost councillor Bob Winter of Glasgow City Council. This is a fantastic achievement as these awards are very very difficult to get into and the only way you can is by members of the public voting for you. A delighted Rik Devlin who accepted the award on behalf of the Glasgow team said “To get an award for behaving like a big kid, you can’t ask for anything more really. It’s a licence to go daft. The Kids love it”

Radio Lollipop will now go through to finals, which will take place in October at Glasgow’s City Chambers. So well done to all the hard-working volunteers at Yorkhill as their work doesn’t go unnoticed and an achievement for Glasgow to recieve this, on Radio Lollipops 30th Birthday.

Plus we even got a well done from MSP Sandra White who mentioned our work during her opening speech on the 1st of June in the Scottish Parliament.

Roadshow in rugby

Radio Lollipop in Birmingham continues it’s fund raising season with an event at Blooms Garden Centre in Rugby, following our Henley Market event recently. A good day was had by all, with volunteers and supporters raising money from face-painting, ‘Pick-A-Ticket’, donations and music and banter galore! The event was such a success, we have been invited back a second time for the August Bank Holiday. The show must go on!
