United players make hospital airwaves at the gold coast!

Gold Coast United players helped brighten the night of some young fans, when they came to visit Radio Lollipop at the Gold Coast Hospital on Tuesday the 17th of November.

Star players Scott Higgins, Kristian Rees, Matt Osman & Bas Van Den Brink were given some tough questions during the in-house radio station interview session before playing and entertaining with the children staying at the hospital.

The children enjoyed joining in with their favourite players, doing ‘soccer themed’ craft activities, singing and dancing to all the latest pop songs! There was even a bit of table soccer – we just couldn’t keep the guys away!

It was so special to have to players come down and visit some of their youngest fans. We wish GC United all the best in the A-League season and hope the guys can come back and visit again soon.

It’s a shack attack!

Last Night the Wacky Wednesday Team played host to the crew from the Channel Nine TV Show The Shak with Nitro, Curio and Willow surprising all the kids with a visit to our studio and the wards.

The night started with all saying Hi on the radio. Curio shared a special secret with all the listeners that Miley Cyrus is one of his favourite singers so Pop Princess (our DJ for the night) played a request for Curio before he headed up to the wards with Willow. Nitro stayed in the studio and assisted the Pop Princess then later in the night they swapped over so that Curio and Willow could stay in the studio whilst Nitro visited some more of the children.

There was lots of funky music played throughout the night (which did get the crew into the dancing mood) and loads of song requests for our special guests helping out in the studio.

Fun was had by all with lots of smiles for photos and autographs left as keepsakes for the night with these special visitors.

Our thanks go to Nitro (Beau), Curio (Drew) and Willow (Lib) for coming and visiting our Wacky Wednesday team and the children. Also thanks to Di (Channel Nine) for helping to organise this visit. Best Wishes for the rest of this years season.
Don’t forget to watch The Shak on Channel Nine to see all the adventures on Nitro, Curio and Willow.

A big thank you to children in need

Glasgow city chambers christmas fayre

This year our Radio Lollipop volunteers Raymond, Andrea, Calum, Catherine and our very own baker, Amna took to the Glasgow City Chambers on Wednesday 11th November to hold our first ever Christmas Fayre along with other charities around the Glasgow area. We made £195 on the day and I have attached some pictures. We met some great people from other charities and we were interviewed by our very own volunteer, Simon Pauley from Insight Radio.

Raymond and Catherine took the rest of the stock into work that day which is Britain’s most ionic menswear store, yes of course Slaters, where they managed to raise a total of £485.74.

On behalf of the management and all of the volunteers I would like to thank everyone for helping us out and of course our hard working volunteers who spent the day fundraising.
