Bunnings team returns to radio lollipop gold coast

This week was our 2nd Bunnings Craft night, this time we had Coral from Bunnings at Nerang and Nickii from Bunnings at Burleigh Heads both on the Gold Coast. They came armed with another great fun craft activity – decorating sun visors with foam shapes, paints, lace and sparkling “jewels”. The studio was a hive of activity with busy fingers and loads of chatter & laughter.

Mums and dads got into the whole swing of things as well. There was a feeling of the “mutual admiration society” as everyone eagerly admired all the beautiful creations. Some Dads just can’t get enough of glue and paint!! When the dads weren’t busy being creative, they enjoyed the ping pong with the kids as well.

We had volunteer Catherine take charge of the radio, which bought mums, kids, Bunnings girls (and yes – the volunteers too) to their feet for some spontaneous dance moves.

Coral was very aware that the children confined to their rooms or to their beds should not miss out, so she organised to take down either the visor activity or some earring making kits (one of the nurses was so impressed with the handiwork of one of the isolation patients, she brought it in to the studio to show it off). Nickii kept the craft session rolling along smoothly in the studio with the help of the Tuesday night regular volunteers Bobbi and Garry.

Our newest Radio Lollipop volunteer Katrina was up to her elbows in sequins and glue, and didn’t stop smiling all night.

A special thanks to Coral’s son Nathaniel, for his help and great camera work!

A h-u-g-e thanks to our friends at Bunnings!!! … a great night was had by all with smiling faces all around.
