Newcastle – new-studio!

Radio Lollipop Newcastle have finally made the much-anticipated move to their new studio complex. The complex consists of two rooms, a studio and office and is still undergoing renovations.

However the volunteers are proud and happy to have begun to operate from our new rooms, with a view to opening the new studio area to visitors within six months. Watch this space for your invitation to the launch party!

Yeehaw y’all!!

Saddle up your horses folks because it’s rodeo time again. The 2010 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has bucked and kicked its way back into town. No one enjoys Rodeo Houston more than the lil’ cowboys and lil’ cowgirls at Texas Children’s Hospital who got an amazing treat when Flame, a real-life rodeo clown, helped make Thursday ‘thrilling’ for patients and their families.

Radio Lollipop Texas was delighted to host this special guest and crowd favorite. Flame entertained all ages with his one-handed rope tricks, magical red thumb and personalized autographed pictures. Patients transformed into Rodeo Clowns by creating smiling clown faces on a stick. Doctors and nurses across the hospital enjoyed checking in on the smiling faces and seeing all the “I met the Rodeo Clown” stickers. Cowboy Kelly fired up the airwaves giving away free tickets to the Rodeo.

Happy trails to you!

Paris marathon boost for glasgow

A Cambuslang man has decided to run in the Paris Marathon in April 2010 and all sponsorship money will be passed on to Radio Lollipop Glasgow. Robert Orr, a 30year old from Eastfield, Cambuslang is the neighbour of Andy Gray ,Chairperson,of Radio Lollipop Glasgow. Robert knows all about the work carried out at Yorkhill and never hesitated when it came to using the run for a great cause.
Robert said “I had no idea how intense just getting the right shoes was. The experts in the running store had me on a treadmill for ages assessing the correct and best shoes to suit my needs” He has also been training very hard and says of his programme “I am following a fourteen week type, and at present am at the 11 week stage and the long mileage runs are really kicking in now,the bad weather has not hampered me that much . Although I have struggled with giving up chocolate ,crisps ,fries and fizzy juices. The thought that is keeping me going though is a huge meal on the Sunday night with a large sweet at the end of it”
We at Glasgow Radio Lollipop wish Robert all the best for the race and anyone interested in sponsoring him or wish to find out more contact andy.gray@radiolollipop.org
