The paper bag kid – premier mater children’s hospital

The Wacky Wednesday team got out the red carpet as they hosted the premier performance of The Paper Bag Kid. This show was written and directed by a group of drama students that form exp performance collection group (http://www.expperformance.webs.com/).

The Paper Bag Kid started sitting in his lounge room and then went on an adventure to meet his favourite super hero Mr Fantastic. Along the way there were choices as to which way the Paper Bag Kid went and through the applause in the studio the audience got to make these choices – similar to the Choose Your Own Adventure books.

This was well received by the children and lots of noise made to help direct the Paper Bag Kid on his journey. The Paper Bag Kid will be performed again in our studio later this month and might take a different path if the audience makes different choices.

Our thanks go to Renee Hood for organising this event and to the performers Rory, Heather, Shailee, Moneth, Lauren, Tanya and Zac. We wish you all the best in the completion of your studies and performances with the Exp Performance Collection.

Yeehaw y’all!!

Saddle up your horses folks because it’s rodeo time again. The 2010 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has bucked and kicked its way back into town. No one enjoys Rodeo Houston more than the lil’ cowboys and lil’ cowgirls at Texas Children’s Hospital who got an amazing treat when Flame, a real-life rodeo clown, helped make Thursday ‘thrilling’ for patients and their families.

Radio Lollipop Texas was delighted to host this special guest and crowd favorite. Flame entertained all ages with his one-handed rope tricks, magical red thumb and personalized autographed pictures. Patients transformed into Rodeo Clowns by creating smiling clown faces on a stick. Doctors and nurses across the hospital enjoyed checking in on the smiling faces and seeing all the “I met the Rodeo Clown” stickers. Cowboy Kelly fired up the airwaves giving away free tickets to the Rodeo.

Happy trails to you!
