Biketastic easter?

Yes indeed the annual biker run went ahead this year. After last year’s set-backs and the event being cancelled because of regulations between the council & police, the new gang of organisers nicknamed Y.E.E.R put all that aside and made the 2010 run possible.

The event see’s over 100s of bikers giving up their normal Sunday afternoon drive to get dressed up & do something silly for charity whilst also doing a parade through Glasgow’s west end streets before stopping off at the Royal hospital for sick children (Yorkhill). Many bikers bring eggs to give to the kids and others bring the magical spirit of a roaring Harly Davidson in the hospital car park.

Our volunteers where on site keeping everyone who was inside the hospital up-to date with what was going on and to speak to the bikers to see why enjoy doing the run.

From what I have heard YORKHILL has now has its own dedicated egg-tastic co-ordinator to sort through the massive donations of eggs for all of the children hehe.

A massive thank you to all of the bikers who took part today and of course all of the organisers who made it happen. On behalf of all the children in hospital we say thank you and hopefully we will see you all again next Easter.

Titans visit radio lollipop gold coast

Last week we were fortunate to have another visit from the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans Rugby League Team. Everyone was ecstatic, the kids were ready at 6’o’clock on the dot outside the Radio Lollipop studio not to miss out on the likes of David Mead, Kevin Gordon, Matthew White and Ben Ridge.

As soon as they arrived, the boys were straight to the art table; the creativity was flowing while they sat side by side with the kids, who couldn’t believe their eyes. We had them all up to their elbows in paint, making handprints, posing for pictures and signing loads of autographs. Matt challenged Kevin to a Jenga play off, with Matt taking out the title. We had plenty of number 1 fans, not to mention the parents!

Later on, Ben and David were interviewed Radio Lollipop style, with some interesting questions that left us all in hysterics. After all that excitement, the Titan’s took to the wards to visit the kids who couldn’t make it to the studio. It was great to see a young Gold Coast rugby league player, Ben, who couldn’t stop smiling after suffering a serious injury during sport.

And we thought it couldn’t get any better, all the kids were given a Titan’s merchandise pack as a keepsake.

We’d like to thank the Titan’s for coming last Wednesday night, you really make a difference to the kids’ spirits and that’s all we could ever ask for. We look forward to your continuing support! Go the Titans!!!

Lastly, thank you for all who helped out on the night; we had plenty of volunteers to go round making it a huge night at Radio Lollipop Gold Coast.
