Cake sale for the kids

LEARNING maths, art and english was offered to students in a new format recently at City Beach Primary School in Perth.

Radio Lolipop (WA) Play Coordinator Melissa Mikulich and fellow student teacher Ailsa Carruthers thought an old-fashioned cake stall sounded like a good way to raise money for Lollipop while learning and having fun all at once!

The Year 5 students were challenged to cooking, budgeting and sales tasks, in addition to some basic advertising and marketing, which all made for a comprehensive learning experience.

The result? Some very popular and yummy honey joys, cupcakes and funny faces and a total of $247 donated to Radio Lollipop!

All aboard the radio lollipop lollibus for some bank holiday fun!

The Radio Lollipop Lollibus arrived in Southampton on August bank holiday as part of it’s whistlestop 30th anniversary tour of the UK.

The old-fashioned Routemaster double-decker, was on its last stop before returning to Great Ormond Street hospital on its final leg.

Equipped with a mean sound system, the bus provided thumping beats and karaoke for visitors to and all those lucky enough to tour the bus or even sit in the drivers seat were given an authentic routemaster ticket as a memento. A team of volunteers were on hand to provide face-painting, balloon modelling, rubber-duck fishing and a wheel of fortune, plus children’s arts and crafts activities.

Bank holiday fun for all!

Gold coast united soccer club seals a deal with radio lollipop gold coast

Bas van den Brink and Scott Higgins from our very own Gold Coast United Soccer Club, came in to the Radio Lollipop studio this week to officially give the fantastic news of continued support for Radio Lollipop on the Gold Coast.

Both Bas and Scott talked constantly of the fantastic time they have when the team come in to visit the children at our Radio Lollipop studio. The fun and silliness going on was enjoyed by all and talked about for ages after.

Gold Coast United have eagerly agreed to visit us and the children of course, every month throughout the year and with so many of the children being avid fans, along with family, nursing staff and Radio Lollipop volunteers, we are all really looking forward to each and every visit.

Bas and Scott popped up just before a rigorous training session in readiness for their important home match at Skilled Park to Adelaide UFC this Sunday 17th October at 4:00 pm. The guys still had time for a photo with lovely patient Helena in the studio and dropped off some cute soccer balls, caps and posters for all the children.

Good luck guys for the game this week and a very successful season throughout the year.

Gold Coast United Rocks!
